Why does Adobe think that I should allow them to automatically install updates to Flash Player when they can't even write good code to keep people from hacking it? How many times to I have to check the box to keep Adobe from automatically installing the non-hackproof software?
Let's face the facts. Flash player is about as secure as a cardboard box. The software is obviously as full of holes as a piece of swiss cheese. The weekly updates are getting very ridiculous. From where I sit, Adobe doesn't seem to listen to their customers, if they did, I wouldn't have to check that box every time I get an update from Adobe for Flash player.
Hello? Anyone listening?
I'm a big boy, I do not need to have Big Brother Adobe trying to tell me how to run my computer. What I do need, is some software that is secure and doesn't get updated every time you turn around.

You have an option to stop automatic installation of Flash Player.
If Flash Player is installed in your machine, go to the following page: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html
Right-click the second animation, click Global Settings.
Click Advanced and select Never Check for Updates.
Thanks,
Sunil

I am not trying to stop the updates, I just want the software to remember the choice I made last time I had to do an update. Not sure why I have to check the same box every time the software needs to be updated.
It just doesn't make much sense to allow automatic updates to software that is buggy to begin with. What if the request to update came from a hacker? Would it then be safe to allow automatic updates?
See where this is going?

If this setting is getting reset, it's most likely due to a third party cleaning tool that is clearing out your C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys folder. In particular, the settings.sol file could be being deleted.

This password prompt is presented by your operating system, and is intended to keep you from accidentally installing software.
If this is your personal machine and you don't need a password to log into the computer when it first starts up, you can probably leave the password blank and click OK to get past this prompt. If this is your personal machine and your normal password isn't working, check to make sure that CAPS LOCK is off, and type the password carefully.
If this is your work machine and it's asking for an Administrator password, well, you'll need to have a conversation with your friendly IT person.
If you're still stumped, you may need to reset the password on your Mac:
