Hi, All.

Need a recommendation on the best software to use to convert PDF docs to HTML. I know you can create either CHM, PDF or HTML in RoboHelp, but I don't think you can convert a PDF to HTML using RoboHelp - or can you?

Anyone using a third-party software they're happy with?

- Thanks in advance

Hi UK Yankee and welcome to the RH community. You are right in thinking that you can not convert a PDF to HTML from within Robohelp. Do you have access to Adobe Acrobat? If so, this will do the job. Failing that, use one of the many PDF to HTML Converters you can find through Google. Sorry I have no experience of any of them but maybe others have.

Hi all

If you import a .PDF file from RoboHelp HTML, it will convert that .PDF to HTML for you. (Version X5 did this)

How well it will do it will depend on how the .PDF was constructed.

Cheers... Rick

Thanks, Colum.

Yes, I have Acrobat Pro, but was looking for a more elegant solution...
Maybe something that holds formatting, image placement and pagination a little tighter...

I've Googled several third-party apps that claim to do this, but just wondering if there's anyone out there who's actually used any of the apps and can verify if they're worth the money or a waste of money. Most are wildly inexpensive - $39.99 range - which is why I question their robustness.

As Rick says, import the PDF into RH. It will apply a style sheet for the topics created but you can change that afterwards. There might be some cleaning up to do but I would guess no more than any other tool you might use.
