Installation File for Flash Update

Whenever I download the latest Flash update, I locate it in my downloads folder but my computer doesn't know what to do with it. Originally, it was trying to open the file with MATLAB. It is forcing me to open the file with an application and I don't know what to do. "AdobeFlashPlayerInstaller_16_ltrosxd_aaa_aih.dmg.mdlp" This is what the name of the file is when I download it. There was one time that I downloaded something without the ".mdlp" at the end of the file and that worked for a little bit, but the installation failed halfway through. Now, I can't download the correct file anymore.

I'm having the same exact problem!!! (using safari version 7.1.2, mac OS X 10.9.5)
