Do you have a creative cloud subscription? And, do you have Lightroom installed that you downloaded from a different website?
Hi Jim, I apparently have a free subscription to creative cloud, but I don't (want to) use it: I never asked for it AFAIK. I wanted to install LR5 on my new Macbook a few weeks ago, but I got this creative cloud installer instead. I'm pretty sure I installed LR5 via creative cloud desktop, although the option "manage application" does not work, while "uninstall" is greyed out. If I put LR5 in the trash, I get "try" instead of "install" next to the Lightroom option in "Apps".
You need to get rid of the creative cloud application manager, and you need to get rid of Lightroom. The creative cloud version does not use a serial number. It depends on your Adobe ID and your Adobe password. After you uninstall Lightroom you can download from the following location and install this trial version:
After you install it the trial splash screen will display and there is an option to indicate that you have a serial number. Choose that option and you will be able to enter your number.
There are no free subscriptions to the creative cloud. There is a trial subscription you can use for 30 days. But when it expires the programs no longer work and you no longer have access to the Adobe creative cloud.
Jim, this works fine, many, many thanks!!! It also feels so much better, simply downloading and installing... this is how it should be.
Btw, the creative cloud subscription appears to be a trial, just as you said. Just another thing to confuse me, I guess.
Can you please tell me how you found the direct download link? In the future, I definitely want to avoid all murky creative clouds when reinstalling.
Thanks again for your help, I was getting pretty frustrated (don't get me started on the "24/7" chat support I tried first)!
I have had that website bookmarked for so long that I can't remember where I first found the link. I suggest that you bookmark it as well because it is a good source. You might want to bookmark at one level back. Here is the link:
Thanks, did that already, but I was (still am) afraid it may change. Anyway, I just finished the batch of photos I meant to finish three days ago, thanks to you
