Yes, you're way behind on updates, which means that you've missed a lot of security fixes, leaving you at an increased risk for malware infections.  You definitely want to opt-in to automatic updates.

I have it on automatic updates...when I open the downloaded folder the file is in it starts to download but gets to 33% and stops. I've tried this many times. Same result. Here is a screenshot.
