ADE does not detect my kobo Aura. Kobo never appears in the top left, I see no peripheral section.

I have a kobo. I was offered ebooks requiring installation of ADE. I installed ADE on my pc (windows8)I have a kobo. I was offered ebooks requiring installation of ADE. I installed ADE on my pc (Windows 8). I can open and read ebooks on my pc. I followed all the instructions to authorize the kobo. But ADE does not detect. Kobo never appears in the top left, I see no peripheral section. So I can not transfer my ebooks on my reading light. Can anyone help me please?
