I have downloaded Adobe Digital Editions v2.0. I have my computer authorized. Whenever I try to download a book from the local library, it states "Error! Check Activation." I contacted customer support, they suggested that I remove the program and then reinstall, which I did....Same error. I also downloaded 4.0 and 3.0 and after migration, it says it has encountered a prob and must shut. I can not seem to find anything on the website relating to this issue.

I had the same problem with my Nook Simple Touch after updating to ADE 4.5 on my Windows 10 laptop, and I tried the same things I read here--uninstall, reinstall, erase and deregister nook, reactivate, no results, uninstall, install an older version of ADE, erase and deregister Nook, reactivate Nook, and still no results.
Finally, I contacted the closest Barnes & Noble store and spoke to the Nook tech specialist. She told me she had had numerous calls about this and indicated that it was an Adobe Digital Editions issue even after uninstalling ADE 4.5 and reinstalling an older version. The latest ADE expects the ereader to have a processor of its own (be a tablet, in other words,) where the software can reside as an app. The Nook Simple Touch and the Nook Glowlight Plus do not have such capabilities but will continue to be able to download books from Barnes & Noble. That response left me irritated (sounded like planned obsolescence to me) since I prefer to borrow library books.
The next day I had idea of my own. Fortunately, I have another computer with Windows 10 and ADE 3.0. Using the recently erased and deregistered Nook with ADE 3.0 on a different computer, I was able to reactivate the Nook. My Nook again works just fine for borrowing books from a library. I still didn't get the specific library book I'd tried a million times using ADE 4.5 on my first computer, but I've gotten two different books now.
PS--You can still find ADE 3.0 for both Windows and Mac operating systems at the Adobe site at Adobe Digital Editions downloads
Hope this helps!
