Multi-level lists in ADE, possible in CSS or need to go manual?

Has anyone been able to render multi-level lists in ADE e.g.: lists with that go

1.

1.1

1.2 etc

I am trying to use the "counter-reset: item; in CSS" but ADE obviously does not see that- is there another way?

Help!!?
