Capture using software Video Camera

Hello,
I want to record screeb actions and insert them in my webhelp project. These are the steps I followed:
1. Double click on the software video camera tool
The software video camera opens
2. Define the capture area

The help instructs that I should click on the "Record" button once this has been done. However the Record and Stop button appear dimmed and Iam unable to take the screen captures. am I missing something?

I stand to be corrected, but I believe that little tool can't handle the newer screen color depths. I think the tool came about back when it was a luxury for some to have a display that was capable of running 256 colors. So it expects a maximum of 256 colors.

You should probably investigate Adobe Captivate for this purpose.

You are right, the help mentions that I change the display to 256 color option. However Iam at a loss as to how to do this through the Control Panel --> Display option since I can see only a 16bit and 32bit color display options.

i changed display option to 256 colors but still not able to RECORD. the trcord button is disabled. Pls. help.

If this is going to work, probably you need to change the color option for RoboHelp, and maybe also for video capture.

I also see a Windows compatibility option but not sure whether you want to go there.
