FletchBayPhoto Mar 2, 2015 6:09 PM (in response to johnrellis)Indeed, that is unchecked but thanks for the reminder. After exporting I open the images in Bridge or Photoshop. All of the metadata is there but the location info.

FletchBayPhoto Mar 2, 2015 6:17 PM (in response to johnrellis)Hmmm....I don't use map module. Should I be? I just type in location info for each image as I'm doing descriptions

5. Re: export IPTC location information
johnrellis Mar 2, 2015 6:20 PM (in response to FletchBayPhoto)No need to use the Map module to get IPTC location information recorded properly.
Nevertheless, check the Map module's Saved Locations as described above to make sure there is no saved location marked as Private that's blocking the export of location information.

johnrellis Mar 2, 2015 6:36 PM (in response to johnrellis)If your Map module has no saved locations then: In Library mode, select one of the problematic pics. In the Metadata panel, select the Location preset. Make a screenshot of the entire LR window and post it here. Then export that pic, upload it to Dropbox or similar, and post the link here. That should provide enough clues as to what's going on.

FletchBayPhoto Mar 3, 2015 9:33 AM (in response to johnrellis)Thanks John for sticking with this annoying problem. I have no saved locations in Map module. In library I only use the copyright preset in the metadata fields, I have no location preset. Here's the screen shot of the metadata and one image. When I export then open in Photoshop to look at file info the description panel is fully written (author, description, keywords, copyright) but the IPTC extension panel is completely blank

Ah, in Photoshop the IPTC City, State/Province, and Country fields are in the Origin section:
In Bridge, they're in the IPTC Core section:

FletchBayPhoto Mar 3, 2015 2:34 PM (in response to johnrellis)Well phooey on that. Why does NOTHING populate the IPTC extension panel? And the IPTC core folder is buried and obscure. I am running Bridge 5.0.2.4 and PS 13.0.2 I found the info in IPTC Core folder in both programs. How do you get fields to populate in the main panel instead?

johnrellis Mar 3, 2015 3:10 PM (in response to FletchBayPhoto)Why does NOTHING populate the IPTC extension panel?
The fields from LR's Metadata > IPTC Extension panel populate the fields that show up under Photoshop and Bridge's IPTC Extension panels. Though they have some labels in common, the Extension and Core fields are in fact completely separate groups of fields.
How do you get fields to populate in the main panel instead?
I can't help much on that. I believe you can customize the metadata panels in both Photoshop and Bridge (e.g. see this thread), but it looks fairly involved and only partially documented.

FletchBayPhoto Mar 4, 2015 8:29 AM (in response to johnrellis)Thanks so much for your efforts. Not sure I understand the answer except to appreciate that Adobe has made their integrated software not so very integrated. Frustrating.
