Hi all fellow AE users!
I got a problem when rendering a comp with a drop shadow, it turns white (as if it got a glow on it..).
Let me elaborate the problem:
I'm making a name title which has a drop shadow on it. I render it with the following settings:
These settings allow my comp to have a transparant background on which the drop shadow will fall and create some depth as it show in my comp viewer:
So when I render it with RGB + Alpha the drop shadow gets white as if I put a glow on my comp instead of a regular drop shadow:
Also if I render it on a background the drop shadow will remain as it is, black.
On every project I work on this happens.
All the renders are rendered directly onto the iMac.
And it's not the problem with the video player as it remains when I put it into a FCP (7 or X/10) sequence.
The system I work on is an 27 inch iMac (Mid 2011):
2,7 GHz Intel i5 (quad core)
12GB 1333 MHz DDR3
AMD HD6770M 512mb
OS X Version 10.9.5
If anyone else has or had the same problem or similar please let me know
I'm on an internship right know and it get annoying if we have add the shadows in after rendering it..
Thanks in advance!
What if you change the alpha to straight (unmatted)?
Most NLE's use straight alpha. I have never rendered pre-multiplied except to demonstrate to students that they don't work well in most situations. I always edit my output module templates to get rid of the pre-multiplied settings. I never have figured out why they were the default.
That seems to be the problem, thanks!
@ Rick Gerard, I've never touched these settings as these are the settings that are supposed to be the right ones.. Well I guess they're not lol.
