FlashPlayer Installer (AdobeFlashPlayerInstaller_17au_ltrosxd_aaa_aih.dmg) requires DashboardClient, to be closed to complete the installation.   The DashboardClient cannot be closed/stopped, and it is automatically re-started each time the current job is killed.

The installation job remains pending until it is killed.

Do any workarounds exist that do not require the running DashboardClient to be stopped and allow the FP 17 installation to complete?

Hi,

Essentially one of the widgets in the Dashboard Client is using Flash Player.  To replace a file in use requires closing the app/widget that is using it.  There's a lengthy thread at What is DashboardClient? | Apple Support Communities that discusses this and how to terminate Dashboard Client to install Flash Player and then restart Dashboard Client after installing.

Hi Maria,

Thanks for the feedback.   I'll see which widgets are running (typically only a package/shipment tracker ... ) and give it another shot.  Also, thanks for the Apple Support link...

Greetings Maria,

Thank you for the suggestions!

It's not elegant, but after closing/killing each widget in DashboardClient (and also my Firefox browser), the installation was allowed to complete.   Now, I must restart each widget again, which is the inelegant part ...

It would seem a "filter" can be created in the installation script to ignore any widget/programming running FP under DashboardClient .... but, maybe that's just the way I'd do it ...

Anyway, TANKS AGAIN !!!

You're welcome.  I realize it's not the easiest solution and we are working to improve the installation process, specifically for these situations.
