Flash Player installation keeps freezing?

i keep getting updates from Adobe to update my flash player. when i proceed to do so everything goes smoothly until the actual download. it stops at 25% and causes my Mac to freeze.

MAC OS X 10.6.8:  Getting the same notices to update flash player.  We can download the new version, but it doesn't seem to install.  Now I'm seeing something about manually "quiting safari".  Gonna try that next.

Success in installing Adobe Flash Player 17.0 at last.  The problem was the little gray box on the installation box that you have to click on which will acknowledge you have read the terms and conditions for installing the program!

I also am getting it hung up at 25%. There is no "little gray box" - I'm on a Mac using Yosemite. It seems that there is a flaw in this program.
