I have tried all of the solutions suggested here and none have worked.  Now I understand why Jobs reputedly hated Flash.  Everybody else products (including Photoshop and Lightroom) update without a struggle so therefore it it is the fault of Flash and the people who update and design it.  Perhaps they should go over to the Photoshop side of the house and learn how to write an update.  If I could dump Flash I'd do it in heartbeat.

It sounds like you're experiencing an issue that is unique from the original poster's, as their symptoms were solved with the provided recommendations.

You're absolutely welcome to purge Flash from your machine.  Here's a link to the uninstaller: Uninstall Flash Player | Mac OS

That said, I'd be more than happy to help you to troubleshoot the issue you're experiencing.

To give you the best possible recommendation, I'm going to need to know more about your computer and browser, and a description of the symptoms you're experiencing:

The contents of the installer log, located at ~/Library/Logs/FlashPlayerInstallManager.log would also be useful if the installer itself is failing.

LATEST

Well I uninstalled the original Flash player, but I was not able to do an install of the latest release.  Had to go away for a few days on business and when I returned I tried installing again.  No reboot no nothing.  The install went off smoothly with no problems.  Go figure.
