Hi Marc
Please provide us sufficient information, as previously requested, so that we may be able to assist you. Right now, we don't know the OS/browser, or what 'it won't install flash player" means. The more detailed information you can provide us, the better we may be able to assist you.

Hi Maria,
Thanks for your reply.
The message Adobe is sending me
says ''Flash out of date'' - so then I
click on ''Install,'' Adobe takes me
to my name ''Marc Tufano''
and then asks for a password,
I cannot recall the password
because I never use Adobe,
and there is no option
given to change the password.
I am using MacBook Air 10 Inch
and need to install Adobe so
I can use video.
Kind regards,
Marc

Hi Marc,
Adobe is not sending the 'Flash out of date" message. This is coming from the browser. Both Firefox and Safari block older versions of Flash Player when new versions are released. Firefox and Apple determine when to block a previous version of Flash Plyaer based on whatever criteria they use and Adobe has no involvement in this decision-making process. In fact, our preference would be for them to not block the most recent version so quickly since it impacts so many of our users. If you look through these forums you'll see many posts with these same issues ('blocked plugin' and 'what password do I use').
Since Flash Player writes to system-protected locations, the OS is the one prompting for the password, not Flash Player. This is a safety feature in Apple OS X to prevent users from accidentally installing something malicious. Furthermore, for security purposes, Flash Player requires Admin credentials (in both Mac and Windows) to install. Again, due to it writing to system-protected locations. As such, the password being requested is the password you use to log into your computer (which must have Admin permissions), not your Adobe ID password. Please see What userid & password do I need to install Flash Player? for more information.
