Authorize/download pdf from acsm on an iPad?

Our organization has trouble installing ADE on our PCs, so I'm trying to figure out if an acsm file can be downloaded (checked out) on a PC, transferred to an iPad, then use ADE app to authorize/download the PDF from that acsm for reading on iPad. Can this be done?

I have successfully downloaded an acsm file, emailed it to myself, opened the email, tapped on the file to "Open in ..." on my iPad, and the file starts downloading. Whichever app you use on the iPad albeit ADE or Bluefire Reader should already be authorised.
