Adobe Flasher Player Download issues

I have a Mac with a 10.10.2 operating system. The version of safari I have is 8.0.4. My flasher player needs to be updated by every time I download the new version I get the following error message: Installation failure. Not enough permissions to write to disk. Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

What is the file name of the Flash Player installer you are using?

Flash Player requires Administrator permissions to install.  Please ensure that your user ID has sufficient permissions to install Flash Player.
