How to specify a "save to" folder?

In Win 8.1, I want to save my Kobo ebooks to a folder in my D:\Data drive.  ADE (or Windows?) saves them to the C:\Users\[username]\Documents\My Digital Editions folder.  This happens even if I specify on download that I want to save rather than just open the book.  It saves the URLLink.ascm file to the right folder on D:\, but then puts the book itself under the C:\ drive.

If the book is under the data drive it gets captured in my data backups.  How do I persuade ADE to save the books in the folder of my choice?

TIA.
