Software not responding; can't transfer a library book to my nook

Downloaded Adobe Digital Editions as directed by my library.

Checked out book from my library.

Open ADE and my book appears in the library.

When I try to drag it to my Nook it either will not drag or I get an error that it cannot copy to another device.

When I try to authorize my Nook the right-click context menu is unresponsive.

I have now reinstalled three times.

I searched the forums and found this question listed numerous times, but no responses that actually address the problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have never tried the drag and drop book to Nook.
Once I copy the book to the ADE library on the PC, I right click on the book and select the copy to device option.

It may be that simple?

Well now it's locked me out of the book completely.

On the other hand, I've tried that with a couple other books and it's worked fine. I guess I'll have to wait 3 weeks and re-check out the first one to see if this plan works with it.

Thanks!
