            adobe premiere elements and Gerdw

The No disc error is a known problem with Premiere Elements 13/13.1. The Adobe solution for this problem right now is to delete the OldFilm.AEX file.

In Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit, the OldFilm.AEX file is found

            Local Disk C

            Program Files

            Adobe Premiere Elements 13

and, in the NewBlue Folder, is the OldFilm.AEX file that you delete or disable by renaming it from OldFilm.AEX to OldFilm.AEXOLD.

Please let us know if that worked for you.

            Thank you.

              Thanks for the update.

On what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 13 running? Have you updated 13 to 13.1 yet using the opened project's Help Menu/Updates? If not, please consider doing that. But for the immediate No Disc issue.

As you may know, this is not Adobe. Rather user to user. We are visitors here like you. The frequency of appearance here by Adobe Staff or PRE_help is not defined. However, it was one of those appearances by PRE_help that brought the answer for No Disc error for the Premiere Elements 13/13.1 user. So far, for all reporting the No Disc error here and trying it, it has worked.

Please install the 13.1 Update and then try the OldFilm.AEX deletion of disabling.

If that does not work then you might want to consider uninstall, free ccleaner run through (regular and registry cleaner parts), and reinstall with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled. Once the program is installed, then install the 13.1 Update.

CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download

And, then, if the No Disc appears after that, then delete or disable the OldFilm.AEX.

Be sure to have installed the 13.1 update before considering deleting the OldFilm.AEX.

We will be watching for your progress as your schedule permits.

              Thank you.

Could you try deleting the plugin cache and then launch Premiere Elements with OldFilm.AEX renamed or removed?

Plugin cache is stored in the registry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Premiere Elements\13.0. Delete the folder named "PluginCache.64". This will get created on launching Premiere Elements again, so it is safe to delete.

                So the detailed steps are:

                1. Rename the OldFilm.AEX to OldFilm_AEXOLD (Note that the extension is removed. this is only to make sure it is not recognized)

                2. Go to registry from Start -> Run and type "regedit" and hit enter

                3. In the registry, browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Premiere Elements\13.0 folder and delete the PluginCache.64 folder

                4. Relaunch Premiere Elements 13/13.1 and then see if you still get the error.

We do not have any known case other than the OldFilm.AEX plugin where we get this error. So if you still see the problem, we may have to troubleshoot the issue on your machine through a session to understand it better.

We will let you know the details for this session if you consent and if the issue is not resolved.

Thanks for the suggested Premiere Elements 13 No Disc error fix modification for gerdw to explore.

If your time permits, could you clarify one point in this No Disc error matter.....

Have you seen problems if the

                  a. the user has 13 installed, gets the No Disc error, deletes or disables OldFilm.AEX, No Disc error gone

b, then does the 13.1 Update

                  c. then No Disc error is back?

A recent report here seems to suggest that. Is there any rationale behind the outcome of that scenario?

                  Thank you.

                    Hi ATR,

We did not update the New Blue plug-ins in the 13.1 patch so a renamed or deleted OldFilm plugin should not be replaced ideally. We can test this scenario again to confirm.

Could you point to a forum thread where this issue is seen after applying the patch, even if the plugin was renamed before updating?

Thanks for the reply with the supplemental information on No Disk error in Premiere Elements 13/13.1.

I will look for the Adobe Premiere Elements Forum thread that seems to suggest a regeneration of OldFilm.AEX associated with the Premiere Elements 13 update to 13.1.

I will post the link to that thread in the thread that we are in now when I find that thread.
