was there an update to Flashplayer released today? I just installed what I thought was an update but suddenly there are 194 items in my trash that I didn't put there.  Does that make any sense?

There was a Flash Player update a week ago (17.0.0.188); not today.

From where did you download that "update"?

this morning I did an update (I didn't see it earlier) with these terms:

Hhm, in a German version no 17.0.0.188.

But when I did "Jetzt überprüfen" I got

>>> 17.0.0.188 installed!!!

But on Internet Explorer you still have the 17.0.0.169 add-on (ActiveX).

thanks, but I only work with FF, IE is deleted because of too much spam (unwanted programs in a moment of inattention) I got.

Then I suggest that you uninstall the ActiveX add-on, rather than letting it go stale.
