I just updated (installed the newest version of) Adobe Digital Editions for mac because I was having so much trouble with an older version.

Now this won't let me download any EBL books from my university library, even after I registered an Adobe ID.

This is the error message: Error getting License. License Server Communication Problem: E_ACT_NOT_READY (Even after I successfully regisgtered a licence)

Help!

It is really frustrating that multiple users are asking the same question in the past 12 hours, and Adobe tech support have failed to respond.

For this error, you need to deauthorize and authorize ADE.

Follow below steps:

Mac:

1. Go-> Go to folder.

Go to folder dialog will appear.

2. Type   ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions

drag the activation.dat file to the trash.

ADE will be deauthorized now.

Now Authorize ADE again [Help -> Authorize Computer].

Windows:

Choose Start > Run.

In the Open text box, type regedit and then press Enter. The Registry Editor opens.

In the left pane of the Registry Editor, locate the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adept

Right-click the Adept key and choose Delete.

In the Confirm Key Delete dialog, click OK.

Your authorization will be deleted.

ADE will be deauthorized now.

Now Authorize ADE again.

Hope this works !!

Hi Sheya,

I'm using a mac and I do not know where to find this folder(s) you describe above.

Where is the 'Go'?

With finder - the application only has one file  - no separate library file.

I also searched around in the new ADE menu, and can't find anything as you describe.

I am still unable to access any ebooks.

PS i tried this suggested on an earlier thread on the same problem:

This can often be resolved by completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to the Library screen on ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).

Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your (old) Adobe ID.

When I did this, a deauthorization box appeared, and after I entered my password I received a new error message: "unable to erase authorization: Please try after some time"
