What password needed?

I can download AdobeFlashPlayer_17_a_install.dmg on my Mac OS X Version 10.9.5, using Safari, but when I go through the steps to install it I am asked for a password. I have tried my Adobe password; changed my Adobe password and tried with the new one; and tried with my Mac password. But the window just jumps around a bit and waits for a different password. What's wrong?
