I Cannot install Flash 17 on Mac OS 10.10.2  - 90% complete then stalls and fails.  I tried uninstalling first.  Closed everything reboot, uninstall, run v17 install...no luck.  What is going on.  I am concerned by the volume of similar problems I see reported on this site regarding Flash installation - is Adobe in a crisis?

Hi nextdave,

Is this the online or offline installer that is failing?  Please post a screenshot (How to post a screenshot in the forum) of the installer dialog window with the error message.  Once we identify which installer you are using we can troubleshoot further.

Thank you.

Same thing here; also with the standalone installer, which only gets to 5%.

Uninstalling first didn't help. Closing Safari doesn't help (the online version didn't ask). Doing it through Firefox doesn't help. Adobe, will you help?

Hi ,

I'd like to get some log files from you to investigate further.  Please see the FAQ Where do I find the Flash Player installation log on the Macintosh? and provide the install.log and the FlashPlayerInstallManager.log files using the 'How to Share a document' instructions at the bottom of the FAQ.

Thank you.

Hello Maria,

The online installer was failing.  Once I got my hands on the offline installer, I was able to install without difficulty.  It did take me several hours to get to that point but all is good now.

Regards,

David

Typically, after struggling with it every which way and complaining about it on a forum, upon turning the Mac back on after three days away it installed fine.

Of note: it now asked me to quit Safari when it didn't last week when I had the problem. (Didn't install if Safari was closed either, though.)
