I cannot install adobe digital edition on my my windows xp

I have a dell desktop- XPS210- circa 2007

I have an adobe account

I would like to install adobe digital editions

It does not allow me to install as it asks for administrator password

I went and created it and it still did not accept it.

My browser of choice is firefox

what am I doing wrong?
