I get an error message "Adobe Digital Editions has stopped working". This happens when I try to open the ebooks I bought.

Never mind but thanks anyway. I think I fixed the problem by uninstalling an old version (3.0) and installing 4.0. Just took a while to find it.

I have this same problem. ADE crashes when I connect to my Nook Color, or on starting if the Nook is already connected to the computer. I have the recommended firmware version. Any more suggestions?

That is the version that I have. I used to be OK on an older version. Due
to some disk problems, I had to reload various software including ADE. I
downloaded the current version and have since been unable to connect to my
Nook color. The new ADE detected the existence of old ebook info on my PC,
and I told it to convert them. Everything is OK until I connect the Nook,
then ADE freezes. If the Nook is connected when I start ADE, it displays
none of the ebook info and freezes. Any other suggestions?

Restart your machine
Launch ADE
Now connect Nook to ADE
Hope this works !!

Restarting the machine did nothing.
My solution:
Uninstall ADE.
Manually (through explorer) delete .adobe.digital.editions on the Nook Color
Download ADE version 3
Deauthorize ADE
Download another book and authorize ADE.
Now I am running again, on ADE version 3.
