Five to ten times a day InDesign stops responding. It's usually when I open a document and then try to click into a text box. I get the beachball and it never recovers. When force quitting it says that Indesign is not responding. I have to restart my computer at that point and it works for a while then starts to do this again. I have neither the time nor patience to deal with this, it's making it very difficult to get work done.
I've found a few threads that are similar and tried the fixes recommended to no avail (the main one being getting rid of a certain asian text plugin). But I have yet to find a thread that shares my exact problem.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Per John Hawkinson:
When it hangs, run Activity Monitor, select InDesign, and run Sample Process. You'll get a report. Upload it to http://pastebin.com/.
Then, chose View > Send Signal: Abort (SIGABRT). You'll get a crash report. Upload that to http://pastebin.com, too.
Post both URLs here, we'll tell you why it hung.

Your crash is caused by some sort of problem in the Extensis font manager. What version are you running?

Howdy,
I'm running Suitcase Fusion 3 ver 14.2.1 - have had quite a few problems with this in the past to be honest, rebuilding font vaults etc etc.
Any help would be appreciated!

I'm pretty sure version 3 is just flat out not compatible with CS5.5 (and probably not CS5). You need to upgrade.

Don't know waht that is, but it's not a crash report that I'm used to seeing...
I thought you solved your problem by trashing the prefs?

Hi Peter, I think I did, I just wanted to have a clue as to what happened, eveyrthing was fine yesterday Got an update notice through the creative cloud app, so ran the update and today bam, no work done, Jeez I hate tech - I'm old enough to remember Tv programs saying the computer would make life better - they lied!

If trashing the prefs works we usually have no idea why they got damaged and the crash reports don't tell us anything useful.

Ok that is what I am doing now. Do I have to redo the crash report and sample process after i update?

If updating doesn't fix it, then yes.

Please follow the direction in Post #1 above to create the crash report as well as the hang report.
That said, CS5.5 is not supported on your OS (10.10.1), so there may be problems, and they are more likely to occur if this was an OS upgrade on an existing system, or if you tried to migrate from a previous system.

Any idea if CS5.5 will be supported on OS 10.10.3?

No…it’s not and will not.
You are unfortunately on your own.

But you haven't put links to them here, so we still have no way to help you.
