Using Windows XP Pro, Firefox, and Shockwave Flash 17.0.0.190. Tried to download & install update >6 times, but Adobe Download Manager box says "Adobe Initializing Error."
Lets try using the manual installation or also known as the offline installer.
Go to this page:
Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows
Go to the bottom and choose the version for Firefox and download it.
Close Firefox all windows.
Verify that the following processes are not running using task manager
flashplayer* ; meaning anything with the process of flash player

plugin-container
force close the weather channel desktop app if you have that

I found a screenshot , but I am not sure why you are not seeing it. I should be on the left side like below at the end of my post.
Also try refreshing the page or browser by closing and re-opening
Also trying going to your Inbox and activity by clicking on your PROFILE as shown below and then click actions in the left side pane and see if there is anything there?
