Hi there,
I'm using Firefox at the moment, version 39.0, on a 64 bit windows 7 machine. On several websites I get a message telling me that my flash version is old and insecure, and that I need to update. I went to:
https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html
And it told me that my flash version was 18.0.0. I then went to:
https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
And it said the newest version of flash is 18.0.0.203. I downloaded flashplayer18_ha_install.exe, which was 17.6 MB in size.
I opened "Add and Remove Programs" and uninstalled Adobe Flash Player 18 NPAPI, then closed firefox.
I ran flashplayer18_ha_install.exe, re-opened Firefox, and still had the same errors. I checked my version again and it was still 18.0.0.
I did some googling and was told to download the file directed. I went to:
And downloaded Flash Player for Firefox - NPAPI, but I had the same problems as above.
So, my question is, how in the name of all that's holy am I supposed to update my flash version?
Thanks.

Do you get any error messages during the installation?
Can you post the contents of the FlashInstall.log file in C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash

I get no error messages; as far as I can tell it installs correctly. After uninstalling and reinstalling, some sites work, but some sites don't. Here are three log results from today:

I see nothing wrong in the install log. But you write "some sites work", which basically means that Flash Player is working.
Can you post a link to a site that does not work?

There's an example.
I'm thinking that the sites that "work" are the result of me clicking "allow and remember" at some point in the distant past.
If the update worked (and there are no errors in the log to suggest that it didn't), I wonder why the adobe site reporting my version as 18.0.0, instead of the 18.0.0.203 that I downloaded.

Hi Shaidyn,
There was a security vulnerability in Flash Player version 18.0.0.203 and Mozilla blocked the plugin in Firefox. We released a fix for this vulnerability this morning. Please go to https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer to download and install the latest version, 18.0.0.209.
