I cant update my Flash from v 17 to18

Every time i try and update my flash player i get a error message " Adobe download manager has encountered a problem and needs to close. we are sorry for the inconvenience"

I am running windows XP SP3 and using Firefox

Firefox is showing it as a blocked add-on.  but i also have tried closing Firefox and running the exe file but i get the same error.

can someone please help me????

You can also use the offline installers as well:

You might need to run the uninstaller prior to installing the new versions if these don't work for some odd reason ( http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/support/uninstall_flash_player.exe )
