I have video clips from various sources, some from my cell phone others from my camera. I can fit two cell phone video clips in one frame (?), but there is a black matt around each video clip which overlaps the other. When I "overlay" one on top of the other repositioning each video clip to fit, there are darker areas. If I can crop the black matt away then everything will fit in fine, without having to overlay
The Crop effect is located in the Transform category of effects, available by clicking the Effects button along the bottom of the program in version 13.
What version of Premiere Elements and what computer operating system is involved?
It sounds like you are referring essentially to a Split Screen Effect. Please review and consider if the following how to applies to your project goals.
Also be aware that video recorded by cell phone, iPad, or other devices that record with a variable frame rate have problems in Premiere Elements. The symptoms range from audio out of sync to not being able to import the video at all. The typical remedy for that situation is to take the video into the free HandBrake program to obtain a H.264.mp4 version with constant rather than variable frame rate.
Any questions or need clarification on the above, please do not hesitate to ask.
