From everything I can tell, the last support they offered on ADE was Vista or Windows 7. At least yours worked fine for one day! Try an older version of ADE, like 3.0. I think my problem started because I had to reinstall my OS Windows 8.1. ADE worked before that fateful day.....

OK, problem solved for me. Here is what I did. First I plugged in my Nook, then I went to the drive that it was on, in this case "F". I found the Adobe Digital Editions file folder and deleted it. Then I deleted my copy of Adobe Digital Edition off my computer, using Geek Uninstaller. Then I downloaded the newest version of ADE (4.3), then installed it on my computer. Went to my my library's online e-book website and downloaded a book. Forget the book you had on there before, because it will say you already downloaded it to your device. Then I opened ADE, and before it would let me see if the book was even there, it prompted me to authorize my computer, which I did, using my Adobe account info. Then when that was done, I plugged in my Nook, and it recognized it and authorized it. Dragged the book to my Nook, and it worked. Looked in my Nook and there it was.
I hope this helps others with the same problem.

Thanks for your response. I have a different problem: ADE will not even launch. I have tried all different approaches. Glad you were able to solve your problem, though.

Update: yesterday spent several hours online with Windows 10 support. Fruitless. In the end the best the technician could offer was to create a new User, download and install ADE for that User, then copy the ACSM file over. This doesn`t work because then I am asked to activate ADE and of course I have already activated on this computer. Besides which who wants to log in as a different user just to use ADE

I had this problem with a Windows 7 Machine. It acts like it's working, I can download stuff from libraries, or open epubs from files, but I can't view anything.
My windows 10 machine had a variety of issues and seems to be working now. Made sure I was the owner of my drives, uninstalled and reinstalled ADE 4.3 twice. Once after a Win 10 reset. Had boot issues where it would take hours to get to a login prompt. I seem to have fixed that problem *knocks on wood* by disabling everything that can put the machine to sleep/hibernation/hybrid state. Still occasionally get download errors from ADE from my libraries, but i think that's a individual epub problem.

I wasn't able to launch ADE 4.03 so I finally reinstalled ADE 3.0, which I was at least able to launch! Then I had to use regedit to delete the authorization key. Finally I can download again! But I think seriously that it is Windows 10 that caused my problems.
