why wont my books open on my reader

I have downloaded books to my ereader,  title shows on screen.  when I try to open it,  it says,  this document not currently authorized for use with your adobe ID

Is this issue associated with Adobe Digital Editions?

I would assume so.   I can download my books from Kobo library.      it says this document is protected by Adobe and not authorized for use with your adobe ID
