Mac Files Missing From fp_background_update.cab

It appears that since around October 13 the install_all_mac_pl_sgn.z  files for version 18 & 19 have been missing from the fp_background_update.cab downloaded from http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/fp_background_update.cab. When is Adobe going to provide the 19.0.0.226 Mac update? It is listed as current on Adobe Flash Player Distribution | Adobe and can be downloaded from http://fpdownload2.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/update/current/install/install_all_mac_pl_sgn.z

Hi wvoyek,

Apparently this has been a long-standing bug in the fp_background_update.cab file that was fixed in 19.0.0.207, but still not fixed in the ESR fp_background_update.cab file.  I have filed a bug to have this fixed in the ESR fp_background_update.cab file.

If you enable verbose logging, or use something like Charles Proxy or Wireshark to view network activity, you can verify that Mac only checks /11 directory for the update, not the other 2 directories.

Hi wvoyek,

The mac background update file, install_all_mac_pl_sgn.z, is not missing from fp_background_update.cab.  It's there in the /11 directory. Regardless of the Flash Plyaer version installed, Flash Player on Mac will always look in the /11 directory for the update. The current release and current release-1 directories (/19 and /18) is for Flash Player on Windows only.

The file http://fpdownload2.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/update/current/install/install_all_mac_pl_sgn.z‌ file is for notification updates, not background updates.

Why did that change? The previous day the /18 and the /19 directories both contained a install_all_mac_pl_sgn.z file and as far as I can tell (from looking at my logs) this is true going back to Feburary for versions 11, 15, 16, 17 and 18.  Additionally the Extended Support Release CAB located at https://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/fp_background_update_18.cab ...‌contains the install_all_mac_pl_sgn.z file in the /18 directory. I have copies of all of these file if you'd like to take a look at them.
