How do I get a transparent background while editing

I was wondering how to get a transparent background in flash.  I have done a lot of research, and have seen many forums, but I don't want my file to be exported to HTML.  Is there a way to have a transparent background, with out having to have a HTML file?  I am trying to get this into Camtasia Studios, but there is a white rectangle behind the animation, blocking everything else.

      Thank you,

Are you exporting a video to go into Camtasia? If so, in the video export options there's a checkbox to say to ignore the stage color, and to generate an alpha channel. Don't tell it to compress the video in Adobe Media Encoder, just take the MOV file into Camtasia.

If you're saying that Camtasia supports importing SWFs, then it would be up to Camtasia to make the background be transparent.
