I'm looking to create a DVD style playable USB drive as 4K UHD is not a supported export format through Encore CS6.
Not sure whether I would need to use Flash or Edge to design and build the structure, but essentially it would have the the following structure -
When inseting the USB into a computer or USB capable TV, the menu loads much like 'autoplay'.
On the menu loading, there are 3 options -
Play all - this plays the entire video playlist.
Scenes - the user can navigate through a sub-menu to play specific videos in the video playlist.
Highlights - the user selects this and it plays a video file.
I've checked out other threads about using both Flash, Encore and Edge to create something similar, but more often than not, there is no definie solution.
Essentially, it would be similar to creating a DVD/Blu-ray in Encore CS6, but for the 'project' to be on a USB, rather than build and burned onto a DVD or Blu-ray, due to the 4K UHD resolution.
Can you help?!
its absolutely possible to do. I would use Flash personally as it is better for coding a custom project like this. Edge might work but since it has been discontinued I steer away from it, it never really got enough force behind it aside from being better at website build.
I used to do DVD/CD's and we used an autoinit.ini file to make the program run upon insert, for Mac It most assuredly is different.
For th eUSB burn I know there are companies out there that do it, but I imagine with some search

Firstly, whether it is possible to design and build a DVD style menu for 4K playback on a USB drive for USB capable TV's and computers?
Secondly, how can you code the build so that when the USB is inserted, it loads a DVD style menu?
Thirdly, how do you 'burn' or 'build' it onto a USB?
Thanks for your comment! As mentioned, this may be for both Flash and Edge communities..

Thanks for your advice, it's great to hear you've been using this workflow so I will try in Flash to build the structure and test out the HTML capability on smart TV's. Understandably its less of a problem for playing on a computer as you can choose to run the the video menu, but for TV's it would be having the USB act like a DVD in which it plays to the menu automatically.
I'd look at doing this in house rather than outsourcing to another company, there must be a way!!

I am looking to create the same thing. Has anyone figured this out? I’ve made three music videos that are being distributed on custom flash drives. I would like for people to be able to plug them into their TV’s and have it act like a DVD or movie you buy on iTunes when a menu pops up when you plug it in. I’d like for computers to have easy access to this menu as well.

For MAC it is not possible, you might want to look into a .dmg file extension but the user would have to initiate.
