Hi,
http://tw.rhino3d.com/4/help2/rhinov4.htm
This WebHelp is generated by the RoboHelp 7, the Search function can only search single chinese chatacter. It always returns "No Topic Found" when I search multiple chinese characters. Can you help?

Thanks,
Kelvin Cheng

Hi,
The language setting in File > Project Settings was set to Traditional Chinese (Taiwan). This could be a limitation of WebHelp, the "Full-text-search data" is created "word by word" in English, "character by character" in Chinese.

And it is strange in RoboHelp 7, I tried to compile the same project into a chm, Chinese characters are totally not searchable, even it is a single chinese chatacter. But, compiling the probject in RoboHelp 5, I can search a whole sentence of chinese in the chm. (RoboHelp 5 is not a Chinese supported version.)

Chinese are totally not searchable in the WebHelp created by RoboHelp 5, so I tried RoboHelp 7. RoboHelp 7 seems getting worse for Asian language support.

If you would like to create a small project with this problem and details of the search required to verify this does not work in webhelp, I can get someone to investigate the problem.

Hi Peter,

http://tw.rhino3d.com/kelvin/ForChineseTesting.zip

This is the small project for tesing. Please try to search "物", "物件" and "物 件" (has a space between the two chinese words).

Searcing "物", the result is correct.
Searching "物件", No Topic Found.
Searching "物 件", you found topics with "物" or "件".

Chinese/Korean/Japanese is not like English that always has a space between two words. Searcing single words doesn't make sense for Chinese/Korena/Japanese. So the "Full-text-search data" created by single word is not useful for these asian languages.

Thanks,
-Kelvin

Hi Peter,

Were you able to find out anything about this problem? I'm seeing the same problem-- but only with Chinese (both Simplified and Traditional), not with Japanese or Korean.

Regards,

John

It was sent to Adobe for testing, not tested by me. Do you have the patches applied?

Peter,

Yeah, we're running 7.03.001, and still seeing this issue in WebHelp. (We don't translate our CHMs, so I don't know if it comes up there or not.)

I've filed a bug report with Adobe; every extra bit of pressure helps, I guess.

Thanks,

John

In that case, assuming you have looked in Using RH7 on my site, there's not much I can add.

Are you able to install the trial of RH8 on a different machine to your production machine and try with that?
