Internet explorer.  When i try tu upgradeie and flash player im told the flas player and ie are integrated with windows 8.1, which is what im currently running.

Hi johnb7777,

As of Windows 8 Microsoft embeds Flash Player in Internet Explorer and all updates are released by Microsoft via Windows Updates.  To update to the latest version do one of the following:

• Run Windows Update and look for the 'Internet Explorer Update for Flash Player' (or similar terminology) update
• Download the latest update (released Nov 10) from the Microsoft knowledge base article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3103688
  • Microsoft updates the Microsoft Security Advisory 2755801‌ with Flash Player updates. This page in turn contains links to the actual knowledge base article containing the update.
• Download the update posted at the bottom of the Flash Player Issues | Windows 8 page.  This simply downloads the update from Microsoft which is the same update from their knowledge base article.
