Adobe Digital Editions is stalled and will not respond. How can I unfreeze this program so I can reinstall it?

How can I close  Adobe Digital Editions?   It is totally unresponsive and nothing functions.  I have tried to reinstall it but am told that it needs to be closed before I can do this.

Try this: Right Click on Digital Edition and choose Option run as Admin.

In this case you should used a older version of Digital Edition:
