Could you please let me know what do you mean when you say " Desktop is Gone " ?
Are the images missing from your Desktop or are the images of Desktop missing from Lightroom Catalog ?
If you could explain more it will be helpful.
When I imported the photo from my desktop it imported under my 2016 folder as Desktop. When I went to then export the photos I into a folder on my desktop it said the folder was deleted or moved. I got worried that it imported my entire desktop so I went to edit undo and pushed it until "desktop" under my 2016 folder was gone. So, I went to my desktop and every folder and file that was on my desktop including my background photo was gone. The only thing that was left is the recycle bin, trash, antivirus, and lightroom. I searched my computer for the files searched lightroom and they are gone!
Did you try to search by the File Name ?
Also if you do Redo in Lightroom are you able to see the images ?
I assume you selected the MOVE option on import, otherwise the original files would still be where they were. For destination - did you change anything or did you just leave it at "Organize by date"?
No in import I only ADD. I didn't change anything about destination it is only "organize by date".
I tried to search the file names in the start menu and I can actually find the individual images that I can remember the names of. But, I can't find the folder they were stored in. Unfortunately, within one of the missing folders was many files. So any ideas of where to find this folder since the files within are still on the computer somewhere...
You could actually use Lightroom for that. Hit import, select the hard drive as source, include subfolders and it will show any supported files. To find out where the files are, right click on the image and select "Show in Folder". It then opens the folder the image is in using the File Explorer (Windows) or the Finder (Mac).
Of course you don't actually import, but just use the function to find the files. After you found them, cancel the import.
