InDesign 2014 CC
Wondering if someone can help on this issue??
Users use the .indd file as a template, which is stored on a network share.
However users now report that the file will not allow more than one user to have it open??...only the first user can load the file.
Is there are preference setting for the file to be able to have it shared (read only) ...like the users have mentioned that it was like before??
2nd Error after OK is clicked
Thanks in advance for any help!
Templates should use the .indT extension rather than .indD. This changes the default opening behavior to automatically open as a copy (with the name Untitled) and prevents accidentally overwriting a template. Using the .indd extension would require users to specifically invoke Open As a Copy in the Open Dialog.
Thank for your help Peter ...I'm not an InDesign user so my explanation was off, sorry
What I ended up doing was restricting the network folder and sharing it out ....e.g. Authenticated Users had Read permission, and only selected users had Edit Permission. Seemed to work for the users, who are now happy.
I also noticed the users were opening the File as normal, maybe they should have been selecting copy?? ...who knows ....but anyways the sharing folder workaround works okay.
