I'm developing a backup strategy. Considering partitoning one of my external drives to use in my backup plan. When external drives "crash" is it more typical that only one partition is destroyed or more typical that all data on all partitons is destroyed or not recoverable.
Backups must be on a different physical disk than your original, not on a different partition of the same disk as your originals.
Partitioning a disk does not give you any benefits here, if the disk crashes, all partitions crash.
All the partitions will be lost in this scenario. It will be only recoverable if you have a clone/backup of the External drive.
Lightroom will remember your edits,File/folder structure. But in case of harddrive failure you need a backup of original files to restore them.
