Flash Player does the setup to 64 percent and then fails.

I am just trying to update my flash player but apparently that is impossible these days! I am trying to do work on my computer and no dice. I have uninstalled flash player and i have tried to reinstall it with absolutely no luck! I download it from the site close out my browser window and try to install put in my password select that i want it to allow updates automatically and then it starts to do its thing then gets to about 64 percent and fails... This is really getting annoying please help.

I'll need to get some log files from you to investigate further.  Please read through the Where do I find the Flash Player installation log on the Macintosh? FAQ and provide all 4 files listed (Adobe_ADM.log, Adobe_GDE.log, FlashPlayerInstallManager.log, and install.log).  When you have all of the files, upload them to cloud.acrobat.com using the instructions at How to share a document or to some other file sharing service of your choice that doesn't require log-in access.  Post the link to the uploaded files in your reply.

Unfortunately, the Adobe_ADM.log and Adobe_GDE.log files are corrupt.  They should be simple text files, but when I attempt to view them they have all sorts of other characters.  Can you just copy/paste the contents, as well as the contents of the FlashPlayerInstallManager.log file, for the installation attempt, I don't need the entire log file, which may be fairly large.

Without the FlashPlayeInstalManager.log file it's difficult to tell if this is the online installer that is failing, or the Flash Player installer itself.  The online installer downloads and installs Flash Player silently in the background.

Please try using the standalone installer posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Mac page in the 'Still having problems' section.  If it succeeds we'll know the issue was with the online installer.  If it fails, I'll need a new install.log file and the FlashPlayerInstallManager.log file.

Are you looking in /Library/Logs or /Users/YourUserID/Library/Logs directory for the FlashPlayerInstallManager.log file?

Also, what OS X version is this?

Thank you, that explains why you're not seeing the file (or it's empty).  The file is saved in the Users /Library/Logs directory, not the system /Library/Logs directory.  Please look in  /Users/YourUserID/Library/Logs for the FlashPlayerInstallManager.log file and upload the contents cloud.acrobat.com and post the link in your reply.  I'll update the FAQ to clarify that ~/Library/Logs is referring to the Users Library directory, not the system Library.

The FlashPlayerInstallManager.log file is saved at ~/Library/Logs (/Users/YourUserID/Library/Logs).  If Flash Player was previously installed on this system the file should not be empty.

Has Flash Player ever been installed on this system before, or is this the first time you're trying to install it?

Unwanted Email notices

Click your avatar picture near the upper right corner (slightly to the left of the pencil) and select PREFERENCES then set all Email Preferences to OFF and click Save at the bottom left

AND

Another new feature is that Jive7 is oriented toward social networking... so every time you start or reply to a message you are automatically added to a FOLLOW list... meaning you receive a notification of every subsequent message in that thread

.

Click the FOLLOW link at the upper right and select STOP FOLLOWING... and don't click the link again to check your status, as you will then be added to the CONNECTIONS STREAM and you will have to uncheck that option as well

.

And, after you post in a message thread and select Stop Following, you need to do it all over again the next time you add a reply to the same message thread, since EVERY POST adds you to the automatic Follow list

.
