Computer was wiped because of a virus and reloaded with Windows 7 (had XP). Now cannot authorize computer to enable downloading books to my nook. Can I re-register with Adobe using my current email address as user name and new password?

Thanks for replying. I tried and it still did not work so I'll be calling
Adobe later today when in front
of my computer with my Nook (at work now)

Which error message you get exactly?

Hi
It related to downloaded books from the library. They downloaded to Adobe
but I could not copy them to my Nook. Message said not allowed so that
tells me the computer was not authorized. I deleted them from Adobe and
will just download them to the Kindle app on my iPad. Still doesn't solve
the problem but will have to do for now. All I want to know is how to
authorize the computer with a new password and it's not letting me do it. I
called
them last night and spoke to someone who said they would call me back but
they never did. That's totally unacceptable to me and I'm pretty down on
Adobe now. Thanks for keeping in touch. I'll save your email in case I want
to try again

Try this:
Windows:
Close all applications.
Choose Start > Run.
In the Open text box, type regedit and then press Enter. The Registry Editor opens.
In the left pane of the Registry Editor, locate the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adept
Select the Adept key.
Choose File > Export.
In the Export Registry File dialog box, select Selected Branch under Export Range. Enter a name and location for the backup registry key, and then click Save.
Right-click the Adept key and choose Delete.
In the Confirm Key Delete dialog, click OK.
Close the Registry Editor.
Open Adobe Digital Editions and reauthorize.
Macintosh:
quit Adobe Digital Editions.
Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash.
If you are using 10.7, see https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/access-hidden-user-library-files.html
Open Adobe Digital Editions and reauthorize.

Hi
It worked. I can't thank you enough...you're amazing. How do I rave about
you on the forum as I don't see the "correct" below the answer?
