BobLevine Apr 13, 2016 4:48 AM (in response to neilw5036518)Sounds like a network issue. Does it happen if the files are saved locally?

BobLevine Apr 13, 2016 4:49 AM (in response to neilw5036518)Sorry, missed that last line. I still wonder if it might be a network issue though.
What if you disconnect the machine from the network?

neilw5036518 Apr 13, 2016 8:47 AM (in response to BobLevine)Thanks for the reply,
I have tried disconnecting the server on your suggestion, with some success. InDesign did crash once, but I didn't see the same dialogue boxes as before. Our global IT will not agree of course!
There is definitely a problem with inDesign interracting with servers. The "disk is full" error is not unique to our company.

neilw5036518 Apr 15, 2016 3:00 AM (in response to BobLevine)Hi Bob,
Are you Adobe Technical Support?
We are having this issue on 70 MAC's globally. We have used network shares (SMB, CIFS AFP and NFS) and we are still getting this error.
What sort of network issue are you suggesting inDesign has? There are blogs on your forum with this issue. looks more like a bug in software that Adobe will not address.
There is no ticketing system that I can find on your website .
Thx
Neil

BobLevine Apr 15, 2016 4:39 AM (in response to neilw5036518)Just a volunteer that's been using InDesign since day one and has seen just about everything around here.
Talk to your IT people about it to see if you can narrow it down...and by all means please let us know what, if anything, you come up with.

Hi,
Please email your InDesign file with the errors to santalwa@adobe.com and I will take a look at the document.
If the file is larger than 10 Mb, you can zip (and password protect) the file and upload to Creative Cloud account (or Dropbox) and send us the document link.

neilw5036518 Apr 18, 2016 1:19 AM (in response to sanyamt)Hi Sanyam,
this is NOT document specific, but occurs with any InDesign document randomly. (I therefore don't think giving you a file to look at will help) Typically, you can open 1 document, but when you try to open another, you get the "disk is full" error as in my original post. Quitting InDesign, and reopening fixes it temporarily. Same result when working from a collect on the desktop, (and disconnecting the server.)
This is an InDesign issue, and NOT specific to our setup. Other companies are having the exact same problems, see also: Error Code: 9 - What causes it and what is it?

Neil

rob day Apr 18, 2016 9:21 AM (in response to neilw5036518)The disk is NOT full, it is a brand new NFS server with 2TB free space!
Have you checked the startup volume's space? I don't think the message is referring to the space available on the server—it's the client machine's startup volume's available space. I've seen this happen when memory is short and ID has to use the OS volume as a scratch disk. You could have a case where Photoshop is running, has its primary scratch disk set to the OS volume, and has eaten all of the available disk space on the OS volume.

rob day Apr 19, 2016 4:24 AM (in response to neilw5036518)The problem is intermittent - hard to replicate on demand, but happens regularly throughout the day.
I wonder if it could be a permissions thing with El Capitan when ID tries to use the disk for a temp file? Are all the machines that are crashing on El Capitan? Next time it happens check to see if overall memory usage is high.

neilw5036518 Apr 19, 2016 9:05 AM (in response to rob day)I am the only InDesign user on El Capitan, BUT the "disk is full" error is happening to others too.

rob day Apr 19, 2016 10:02 AM (in response to neilw5036518)Next time it happens double check the startup disk space—it's unlikely but not impossible for it to be filled by Photoshop's scratch disk.
Also, (I just guessing here) do you do any OS maintenance? You might check the health of the disk starting with Disk Utilities verify. And look at an app like Cocktail, which will run OS maintenance scripts, repair permissions, and clear logs and caches.
