the topic is not showing for the end user to view. What can cause this?

This is what our end user is telling us

This topic (see below) is not displaying in InfoLink CCS Production. It’s in QC just fine, but our end users cannot view it. There was a huge push to get this online today; we need to resolve this quickly.

One factor may be that it was originally imported under Getting Started, but I completely purged that topic & recreated it from scratch under this new folder. However, that doesn’t explain why it appears in QC without errors.

Can you give us a clue as to the output being produced? WebHelp? CHM? Also is QC some test location? Can you give us some more detail.

They are creating the topic in Robo Help, but it will not publish for the end user to view. It states the page can not be displayed. It will generate the project just fine.

I'm still not clear what output type you are producing. If you are producing a CHM file, you may want to read this link. If you are producing webhelp, can you publish the output to a different location? If that works, come back with some details about the browser the users are using.

Hi sencinas

Please note that if you are using RoboHelp HTML, you have several different output types available.

* WebHelp
* WebHelp Pro
* FlashHelp
* FlashHelp Pro
* Microsoft HTML Help
* JavaHelp
* Oracle Help for Java

And ALL of these output types use .HTM files as the base for topics.

When Colum asked about which type you are creating, it is because the very type of output (as well as where you are trying to view it) could be the issue.

I'm going to hazard a guess here and say that it's probably WebHelp or FlashHelp. Your bit about having moved things to a new folder seems to lend credence to that action in and of itself being the issue. Have you tried moving things back to where they were? If this is a single topic that is the issue, it's probably a simple linking problem. If it works on your PC fine before you copy things to a server, that even further substantiates things.

Cheers... Rick

Apparently what has happened with this is that it was initially generated under a different location, than it was moved to a new folder. Once that was done it would not work in the location that they moved the file to. We are using Internet Explorer

We are actually using Web Pro. Just yesterday we deleted the topic and attempted to re-create, and are still running into the same issue. Can you provide any additional assistance?
