I recently reinstalled Adobe Digital Editions on my computer because my Kobo reader was unable to open books from the emedia library which had been copied onto it by ADE.
Now ADE cannot even fulfill the files downloaded from the library "Error check activation"
and cannot copy files it already has to the reader "Errors were detected"
It knows the Kobo reader is there but cannot see any of the files in it.

Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash.
If you are using 10.7, see https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/access-hidden-user-library-files.html

I am operating with Windows 7 where I couldn't find a Start>Run option
So I opened the Windows XP virtual machine and followed your instructions there
I was able to follow the string in the Registry Editor to \Software\ but under it there was no \Adobe\
Is there perhaps a proper way to get to the Registry Editor in Windows 7 by which I would find Adobe?
