Can I transfer an ePub with notes/highlights to someone else's library?

I am working with an external company to produce ePubs of my company's products, and I would like to be able to communicate flaws and changes that need to be made by marking up the ePub...  Something akin to commenting on a PDF.   We both use Digital Editions to view the ePub.  Is there some way that they can open the ePub and view the notes and highlights I made from my library?

We are both using Digital Edition 4.5.1 for the Macintosh. I theorized there might be some way of transferring a program file containing my notes that I could transfer, or perhaps some way of exporting notes and highlights. Any information would be helpful.
