On Run, Computer says file not found

I have repeatedly attempted to install Adobe Flash Player on Windows XP (not SP3).  It appears in the Downloads but when I click run and type in what it is called in downloads I get a message that it isn't found/doesn't exist.  I have tried several times.  I wish to download it to play puzzles and games.

What browser are you using? Could you share the link you used to download Flash Player?

Sorry to be ignorant - not sure what the browser is - I have windows XP - does that answer the question?

It will be a few days before I can use the computer in question as I've hurt my back so on lap top only.

I just noticed you mentioned "Windows XP (not sp3)" in your first post.  Unfortunately, XP versions prior to SP3 do not support sha256 certificates, which Flash Player uses.  It appears you are using the online installer, downloaded from get.adobe.com/flashplayer and that file is designed to self-delete after its executed.  My colleague referred to the Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows 7 and earlier support page which links to the full/offline installer, but that probably won't work on your version of XP, since it doesn't have SP3.  At this point, your best bet is to upgrade to a supported operating system (see Adobe Flash Player | Tech specs ) or find a Service Pack 3 installation somewhere and install it.  This will enable you to install the latest version of Flash Player.

Thank you - I'll look at the link Adobe Flash Player/Tech specs.I uninstalled SP3 because my computer seemed unable to cope with it (went very slow).

what happens when you go to the Downloads directory and double-click on the file to launch the installer?

At the time when I clicked on the down arrow it was there.Today in response to your email I have clicked on my Downloads list and it is not there.
