DRM authorization issue with eReader

Hello,

I am trying to download a book from my local library (in an EPUB format) using Adobe Digital Editions. The eBook opens correctly on my computer, but when I try to copy it over to my eReader, I get the following error:

"This document is protected by Adobe Digital Rights Management (DRM) and is not currently authorized for use with your Adobe ID. Please sign-in with the authorized Adobe Id and try again."

However, I have checked and the eBook is authorized under the same id as my device (I checked the authorization code). Do you have ideas about why that might be?

I have tried re-setting my eReader to factory settings, but that has not fixed the issue.

Thank you,

Did you ever get this solved?  I am having the same problem, but only with certain books.  I have had no luck getting help from Kobo or Adobe on this.

Hi Keeley...yes, I did get it solved finally, with the help of a wonderful

girl from Kobo. Busy right now, but will send you the instructions this

evening, that worked for me. Do you have a Kobo ereader? Mine is a Sony,

but I would think it would work the same with both. Will email you tonight.

Hi Karen...do these steps in order

Deauthorize Adobe Digital Edition, by launching ADE

- Deathorize by hitting Ctrl shift and D

-Reboot computer

-Reauthorize by launching ADE

-click drop down to right of Lib Menu

-click Auth computer, and it should now be authorized

-Reboot computer

-Deauth e reader from ADE by

-Launch ADE

-connect ereader to computer

-hit Ctrl shift and E to open a menu to select which device you want to

Dauth

-safetly remove and unplug ereader

-reser ereader to factory settings then reenter date and time, if needed.

-Resink ereader with desktp ( I did not do this step as I could not see how

to do it)

To reauth ereader, close ADE and unplug ereader

-plug ereader back in and open ADE and it should say it has found a new

device to auth.

-Reboot

They gave me these instruciotns,.minus the reboots, and it did not work

the first time, so the second time I rebooted after each step...and it

worked. Let me know if it works for you. Hope you understand the

instructions..I had rewritten so I could save them the way I interpreted

them. You will need to know your Digital Edition user id and password, as

well as the same for the site you use to get books. The only trouble I

found was with resetting my ereader to factory settings, but found the

instructions online. These instructions look daunting, but really it only

took 5 or 10 minutes to do. Good luck.

Please let me know if this works for you.

yes, I will forward the steps as sent to me by Kobo. For me, the first

time it didn't work, so between each step, the next time, I rebooted my

computer. Not sure if I needed to, or if I did something wrong the first

time.

hmmm, on second thought I guess I can't forward them without your

email...so here they are. Feel free to post them on the forum if you know

how...I can't figure it out. Thanks

you will need to know your Digital Editions user id and password

-Launch Adobe Digital Editions

- to deauthorize hit Ctrl shift, and D

-reboot computer

- Authorize by launching Dig Ed

-click the drop down menu to Lib Menu on the right

-click Author Comp...should now be authorized

-Reboot Comp

Deauthorize ereader

-launch Dig E

-connect reader to computer

-hit ctrl, shift and E to open a menu to select which device you want to

Deauth

-saftly remove and unplug e reader

-reset ereader to factory settings..can find instructions on line for how

to do this, then reenter date and time if needed

-resink ereader to desktop...I did not do this step, as I could not figure

how

-Reboot

To reauth ereader, close Dig Ed, and unplug ereader

-plug in ereader and open Dig Ed, and it should say it has found a new

device to auth

-reboot comp

Hope it works...let me know please and thanks

Hi Keeley. You will need to know your Digital Edition UserID and Password,

and password for whatever book site you are using. Then, do the following

in order

1) launch Adobe Digital Edition

2) Deauthorize it be hitting Ctrl shift and D

3) Reboot computer

4) Reauthorize ADE by doing the following

5) Launch ADE

6) Click drop down menu (to right of Lib Menu)

7) Click Authorize Computer. Now your computer is authorized to ADE

8) Reboot computer

9)Deauthorize your ereader from ADE, by doing the following

10)Launch ADE) Connect ereader to computer

11) Hit Ctrl shift and E to open a menu to select which device you want

to Deauthorze

12) safetly remove and unplug ereader

13) Reset reader to factory settings, then rerenter date and time on

ereader, if needed, and resink ereader with desktop

14) Reauthorize ereader, by closing ADE and unplug ereader

15) Plug in ereader and open ADE and it should say it has found a new

device to authorize

16) Reboot

This is what they told me to do...minus the reboots. It didn't work the

first time, so I rebooted after each section and then it worked. Only

trouble I had was resetting my ereader to factory settings, and found the

instructions online. Hope this works for you...please let me know, and

hope you understand the way I am giving it to you..I kinda rewote them for

myself to understand. Seems daunting because there are so many steps, but

it really isn't...took me 5 or 10 minutes

PS>step 13 where it says to resink ereadeader, I did not do as I could

not see how to do it.
